These tags
were subjected to 24 hours of fast-moving and high degree of sediment current in a freshwater creek to determine if the thermal transfer imprinted information would withstand the exposure. The test conditions were more harsh than would likely be experienced by the tag in a standard saltwater shellfish environment. The tags and imprinted
labels came through extremely well. They were held onto the nylon line by a standard diamond deadlock and showed no detectable image being washed or "sediment blasted" off. Contact us at sales@abtl.com for further information and

100th Corporate Anniversary
Allen-Bailey is celebrating its 100th corporate anniversary this year. The company was founded in 1911 in Dansville, NY by Sam Allen and Jim Bailey (shown in the picture above). They operated a bicycle shop during the early years of the 20th century and found a need for product identification (tree, shrubs, and other plants) and created a machine to produce wooden nursery tags. The tags were hand wired by many residents of the Village as a source of extra income. The company moved to Caledonia, NY in 1913 to take advantage of convenient rail service via four active railroads. We have been here ever since and currently employ 105 people; up from 89 in 2009.
We will be having a celebration on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at our corporate headquarters in Caledonia. Tours of our facility will be open to the public and local and national dignitaries have been invited to attend.
Tradeshow Participation
Allen-Bailey will be exhibiting at the Staples Advantage National Sales Meeting 2011 at the Marriott World Center in Orlando, FL during the third week of February. We look forward to demonstrating tag and label applications in multiple markets to more than 200 sales representatives.
2011 Fire Extinguisher Postcards
The 2011 postcards will be mailed in March to remind all of our Fire Extinguisher & Sprinkler service customers that our form mailing will occur in June. The schedule we adopted during 2010 to remind our valued customers of the appropriate time to place orders worked very well. 2010 Food Safety Law
Yes, this newly passed federal law affects even tags. We are working on the next generation of Shellfish Tags so that our customers can provide detailed traceability for their harvests and processed clams, oysters and mussels.
